The Human Animal Bond Extends Beyond An Emotional Connection. It’s An Energetic One, Too

International Human Animal Bond Day. The power of the human animal bond.

You know how your dog or cat can intuitively sense when you’re sad and they stay closer than usual? Or how your comfort and love when they’re sick can make them heal faster? We are connected to our furry companions on a deeper level than you may realize, and it originates with energy and quantum physics.

Pets have been a constant presence in human lives for thousands of years. They have been our companions, protectors, and even our therapists. The bond between humans and pets is not just a physical one, but an emotional and energetic connection that can have a profound impact on our lives. Pets are like mirrors that reflect our own emotions and energy, and this is what makes them such powerful healers. They have the ability to soothe our spirits, comfort us during difficult times, and help us see the world in a different light.

Numerous studies have shown that this deep bond can be traced to the energy fields around us and our animals, also called auras. Semyon Kirlian discovered this using photography in the 1940’s, when he developed the process by which one could see the energetic  aura around people and plants in photographs.

When two beings are close to each other, their energy fields can overlap and interact, creating a bond. This bond can be further strengthened by physical touch, as well as emotional and mental connections. If the powerful emotion of love is felt by both the human and the animal, that is transferred across this energy field to the other, thereby feeding and growing that bond.

And, with anxious pets, a specific stroking therapy I call LoveTouch™, which has been practiced for years by holistic veterinarian, Dr. Edward Bassingthwaighte, calms animals and, over time, actually retrains their brains to calm themselves.

It’s Psychological

One theory is that the emotional and energetic connection between humans and pets is also rooted in the release of certain hormones, like oxytocin and dopamine, the happy hormones.

Oxytocin is often called the “love hormone” and is released when people interact with their pets, which also helps to create a sense of bonding and attachment. Dopamine is a hormone that is released when we experience pleasure, and pets have been shown to increase dopamine levels in the human brain.

It’s Biological

Studies have also shown that the presence of pets can have a positive impact on our physiological systems. Petting a dog can lower blood pressure, decrease anxiety, and boost the immune system. Why? Because interacting with pets triggers the release of certain hormones and neurotransmitters, such as endorphins and serotonin, which have a calming and relaxing effect on the body.

The emotional and energetic bond between humans and their pets is a two-way street, as our dogs and cats also benefit from this connection. They get the love, affection, and attention they need to thrive, which has been shown to turn on the pleasure centers of their brains. In turn, this helps their overall health and well-being and strengthens their immune system.

So, while the science behind this connection is still not fully understood, what is crystal clear to us pet parents is that pets play a critical role in our lives and have the ability to provide joy, comfort, and unconditional love, making our lives richer, much better…and even healthier.
